FREE Film Screening of Battle Of Amritsar
This film looks to the Battle of Amritsar as a guiding light to the future rather than a painful memory of the past.
By connecting viewers with the spirit of Sikh sangarsh (struggle) embodied by the jujharoos (warriors), the film is a soulful exploration of a momentous event in Sikh history. Based on interviews of those present throughout the battle, the film will take a deeper look at what the Battle of Amritsar means for the Sikh panth through the eyes of those who witnessed and participated directly.
Interlaced with powerful archival footage, a traditional Sikh soundscape, and soul-piercing poetry, this film is an artistic tapestry that seeks to capture the soul of Sikh resistance.

Spurred by the spectacle of a circus tent that goes up outside his Oakland Apartment, a disabled filmmaker launches into an unflinching meditation on spectacle, (in)visibility, and the corrosive legacy of the Freak Show. Shot entirely from the filmmaker's literal physical perspective, both from his wheelchair and his two feet, I Didn't See You There is a groundbreaking work of documentary cinema by the first-time feature director Reid Davenport.
A Q&A followed the film screening with Reid Davenport, moderated by Nico Opper (Assistant Professor, Communication)

A smiling man caught in the cogs of a gigantic machine - with this single funny and frightening image, the great filmmaker Charles Chaplin brought his immortal “Little Tramp” character into the Great Depression of 1930’s America. With the effervescent Paulette Goddard as his companion on the road, the Tramp journeys through a city landscape populated with factories and cops, cocaine and communists, and always a dream of a better life. Please join film curator and scholar Mark Larson for a unique presentation of this side-splitting romp into the world as it is today. A spirited group discussion followed the film. 1 hour and 27 minutes
