Polar Bears, Black Boys & Fringed Orchids
We are proud to present L.A. based playwright Vincent Terrell Durham's latest work that boldly explores race, class, and environmental justice with a theme of salvation and quest for redemption. A liberal white couple hosts a cocktail party at their renovated Harlem brownstone. The guests include a Black Lives Matter activist, his white partner, an author and Harlem businesswoman, sistah named Shemeka, and the mother of a slain 12-year-old black boy. As the precarious party alternates between arguing and storytelling, topics range from underweight polar bears, Lana Turner, saving the planet, gentrification, racial identity and protecting the lives of black boys. But what do they have in common and is there salvation?
